Good morning and happy Friday!
Congrats! you made it to the “end” of the week.
As always, I went on my morning walkabout around my neighborhood and I was starting to feel good about myself…
Because I knew that that the hardest part of my day was behind me…
You see I have two alarms: one at 5:45 am and the other at 6:00 am.
The first one is kind of like a “prep” so my body can realize “Hey! you have 15 minutes, enjoy it because we are going to be waking up at 6”
Then 6 rolls around….
Beep, Beep, Beep
At that point, I have a really important decision to make….
To get up or not to get up and go right back to sleep.
For me, it is always a struggle. I have to fight myself every morning to get my day started.
I find that the times that I’ve decided to stay in bed, the rest of my day looks pretty lackluster.
Like a domino effect where I am slacking off and not taking the tasks at hand seriously.
However, when I decide to rise and start attacking my day, I find that it creates momentum for me to carry on throughout.
(Mind you, my version of attack the day looks like me yawning, stumbling around to find my shoes, and heading out the door.)
It’s funny how that one simple decision can have such a crazy outcome.
As soon as I decide to wake up, the first thing I do is go for my walk. Why? Because I use it as a “warm up” for my day. It prepares me for the work I have ahead – even though it’s Friday.
Many business owners can find themselves in the same situation.
Maybe the hardest part of your day is outlining a marketing plan, or calling up affiliates to promote your program, or figuring out how you are going to launch your next product…
All of those are very important and take a lot of time and consideration.
So my suggestion – start small and go for the hardest thing first.
Whole books have been written on the subject, but if you can knock out the hardest part of your day or project first, everything else will fall in line.
I know sometimes we want to do the easy stuff first, believe me I get it. However, when we do that, we don’t lose any anxiety and still feel like we didn’t accomplish anything since we know that the hard part is coming up….
Regardless if it is just waking up to start your day or creating a plan for your business – attack that the hardest part of your day first and use that momentum to knock out everything else you need to do.
It creates a powerful mindset change for yourself.
Alright, I’m keeping it short today but once again, happy Friday and I hope you have an amazing weekend because you deserve it.
